Literature Text

Towering over me with its cape of green
Blocking out the joyous laughter of the sun
Casting my world into stiff, cool, silence
Shadows flickering across the ground

Slowly I sat myself upon the darkened grass
Feeling the breath of the earth
And listening to the hushed words of the leaves
The world bringing my soul to peace

But soon enough the peaking sun
Steals back its golden touch
And hides itself bellow the rising mountains
I'm left with the pure depths of night

I turn my gaze past the shifting green
And fix my eyes upon a star filled ocean
I mutter a plea for it to lift me away
Slowly I shut my eyes and fall asleep
Poem for English class
Hopefully it will be picked to be placed in the poetry contest...
Wish me luck?
